OBJECTIVES
AMBOX Events primarily aims to:
- Provide a venue of social interaction for anime, manga and Japanese pop culture enthusiasts.
- Increase the awareness of the people about anime, manga and Japanese pop culture in general.
- Provide a better understanding about cosplay.
- Create a social atmosphere that will promote the growth of local anime and manga industry and
- Foster friendship between the Philippines and Japan.
COMPANY ROOTS
AMBOX started when members of an anime group in Davao City was approached by SM City Davao to organize a costume convention for their Halloween event. The organizing team was able to organize the First Mindanao Cosplay Summit on October 30, 2008.
The members became independent in order to establish a more stable organizing committee. It is now known as AMBOX Events. It was registered as extension of the same business permit of Hiro’s Place Okonomiyaki, a Japanese restaurant in Davao City.
The registration gave AMBOX a juridical personality which enables it to become a member of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Mindanao. Following the success of Mindanao Cosplay Summit, AMBOX is organizing various events related to anime, manga and Japanese pop culture, not only in Davao City but also in other key cities in Mindanao and Visayas as well.
